A little Friday fact for you today. I practically grew up in Mexico, and I don’t like salsa. True story.

My Mojo is Missing…
I know, I know…it’s been the better part of a week since you’ve heard from me. I guess I was just riding on the wave of the popularity of the blackberry ice cream. But really I’ve just been going non-stop. I actually have been in the kitchen a bit lately, mainly making guacamole…but no time to take pictures. Caleigh says what..?

Martin’s Berry Patch
I’ve finally been to my first berry patch. Despite the scorching Texas heat, I loved it. Martin’s Berry Patch is located in a town nearby us, Hallsville, TX. He primarily has A LOT of blackberries, and about a fourth of his berry patch is blueberries. We stuck with the blackberries, and we came out with a bucket full. By the way, this is a GREAT place to bring kids.
DIRECTIONS: It is located in Hallsville off FM 968 just NORTH of I-20. (When we were looking for it the only directions I found online said it was south of I-20. But it is actually about 5 miles or so North of I-20). He is open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 7pm.

Back in Black
News flash! Fresh blackberries start to go bad really quickly! I am really sad I didn’t get to do the grandiose things I had planed for all of our fresh blackberries we picked last weekend. I wanted to make jam, cobbler, pie…you name it.
Sadly, I only had time for ice cream. Okay, you’re right. That is NOT a sad thing…there is always time for ice cream. There is nothing like homemade ice cream using fresh fruit in the summer time. It epitomizes summer time for me….
Heaven and Hell Brownies
Thats not really what they are really named. But I thought it was fitting…red brownies on bottom…white icing on top- Heaven and Hell.

Random Ramblings for Friday
Because it’s Friday, and I have not provided the type of information you need this week in the kitchen department…you will get my “random ramblings” post. And you will love it. (maybe).
1. I was inspired by Kevin and Amanda (another great blog you should read) to get a very versatile lens for my camera. I came across this wonderful quick photography tutorial…because I am always wanting to get better and better at it. In it, it mentions the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens and how fabulous it is…so I got it. And I am so glad that I did. It takes some great shots, and hopefully I will one day find the attention span to sit down and actually really learn all of the settings on my camera. I’m making it for now.

Frittata, Frittata….a healthy recipe!
Guess what?
My 10 year reunion is in a month and a half. I really did not think I would be one of those people who get all wrapped up trying to look good the last month or two beforehand. But, alas this food blog has not been too kind to my waist line. So I am trying to reverse the past few months over the next 2 months. Honestly, I am friends with most of these people on facebook still. Not like they have not seen pictures of me. It is really more for me.

I’m So Sorry
But, this is not my fault. Not one bit.
This would be “The Pioneer Womans” fault…yet again. The recipes she posts are out of this world….
