I asked Kirkley the other night t to stop growing so fast as we sat on the front porch rocking chairs of our new home. Her response was a sweet giggle and “I cannot do that, growing is too much fun.” Then I cried. I told her about how when she was a tiny baby I would sit in these very rocking chairs and sing to her while she slept. Then she proceeded to snuggle up to me and “sleep” while we sang Rock A Bye Baby and Twinkle Twinkle. I cried some more. I’m crying again as I recount that moment. I needed that moment. It made me realize how incredibly fast these little people grow. I know she’s only 3, but I swear to you last week she was only 3 months. And now I can’t stop crying.
I love this age (most the time). She challenges us every day with her “threenager” ways. But man I love that child. She is spirited, funny, so sweet and loving, compassionate, caring, spunky, independent and oh Lord is she smart. I am so proud of the little girl she is becoming. It’s happening way too fast though. Sometimes I sit and think of what I’m missing during the day while she’s at school and I’m at work. I want to be a fly on the wall to watch every moment of her little life happen. Her first dance recital is today. She loves dance so very much. It’s so fun to watch her start to have interests and become her own person.
I’m sorry I’m not sorry for all the pictures that follow. She is just such a special child, we are so blessed and lucky to have her in our lives. I am so excited to see what adventures this little 3 year old takes us on this year. We love her so very much. Cherish every single moment you have with your kids. It’s sometimes hard not to take that time for granted, or wish they would fall asleep a little bit faster so you can have some time to yourself. Then when she tip toes in our room at 2 am, it’s sometimes hard to go put her back in her bed kicking and screaming when the alternative is snuggles for the next few hours. Those snuggles won’t last forever. I’m going to soak them up while I can.
Happy Birthday my sweet little princess.
Cant believe how big they are getting
