I think I have figured out why it is so difficult for me to blog lately.
It’s the summer. I love summer.
I know a lot of you beg to differ, especially since we live in Texas and it gets to about 235 million degrees everyday. I still love it. I want to go to the lake, to the pool, anything with water and outside. I love it. Which is probably the reason I started my blog in the winter…and was extremely diligent in the winter at posting. I’ve noticed my number of blog posts dwindling the past couple months. I’m working on changing that.
Last week was my husbands “birthday week”. Yes..thats right, we pretty much celebrated all last week. Saturday I rented a party barge out on a local lake and invited a bunch of our friends and we just played all day long. Thought I would share some pictures with you.
My goofy husband, who thankfully normally doesn’t look like this:
He looks more like this, so serious:
Some of the guys chowing down. The boat came equipped with a charcoal grill, so we were able to cook out!
Love these two love birds:
And then there’s this guy who was my co-captain most the day. I don’t normally like chihuahuas, but he was super laid back and relaxed.
And last but not least, we have “little debbie” here, who always likes to wear my floppy hat. Which is now terribly mishapen from the water…clearly.
On a related note…if you do try and make these jello shots…stick to the amounts in vodka. Do not, I repeat DO NOT use everclear or 151. Bad idea. Strong, super strong…but they were still consumed (not by me, this wuss couldn’t handle them.
Moving along, I had to make a cake to take along. And I did, a delicious, moist and decadent chocolate cake was made. With some creamy buttercream frosting. It was definitely devoured. I had intentions of taking pictures afterwards to share with you. Bad idea. Texas heat + buttercream icing, no bueno. For now, I will give you a link to the cake portion (which has over 1100 ratings of 5 stars), and then I will try and remake it and repost it for a much better recipe post. My apologies, I did still take a picture for you:
Be on the lookout for my Nanny’s delicious sugar cookie recipe in the next couple days!
What did you do this weekend?
