Yes friends, I am still alive. I just saw its been 172 days since my last post. I guess pregnancy just made me too tired. I took a long hiatus from the kitchen to sleep. Which I am glad I did, because I’m not getting near as much now. It’s all worth it though because now Caleigh’s Kitchen has a new assistant…Kirkley Mae!
Quick side note…I have to share this picture of my dear husband baking my birthday cake this year.
I will spare you all the details of her birth story, but here is the shortened version. I just knew I was going to have a 10 lb baby, being I was overdue. I was induced on Tuesday April 24th at 41 weeks. We arrived at the hospital at 7am ready to meet this little girl. 12 hours later and 2 hours worth of pushing…an experience Doug can only describe as “intense”…Kirkley blessed us with her arrival! She was born at 6:20pm, was 7 lbs 3 ounces and 18 1/4 inches long, and absolutely perfect! Here she is during her first bath:
Hard to believe she is already almost 6 weeks old. I’ve taken a ton of pictures, but sadly most of them are through my phone. Its just so much easier. So here is a quick…or long picture introduction of the first 5 1/2 weeks of her life! And I must apologize…I had a super tough time deciding which pictures to use…so like my facebook friends (which I know some of you are…), you get a lot! Believe it or not, I cut several out of the amount I was going to post. And once we get the rights from our Photographer to her newborn pictures, I will post some!
Here is a proud papa, new baby Kirkley and me and my little angel!
I had to share this. My friend Lindsay has started making these adorable bow holder, which also doubled as a door hanger for the hospital. I keep encouraging her to sell them on Etsy! Love it!
Once we made it home, the first night was a little shaky…Doug and I literally did not sleep a wink that night due to an unhappy baby. Thankfully my parents were there to help out a lot! We’re getting the hang of the sleep thing now.
Love these little feet:
New Moms…if you have not heard of or discovered the Moby Wrap…you must. It is a life saver! When she is unhappy, I just put her in it and 90% of the time she calms right down and usually goes right to sleep. Get you one!
She loves to take naps on us
Our first outing to Texarkana to cheer on Daddy in one of his triathlons. It wore her out!
Love this face so much!
She’s a Daddys girl. Was super happy on Memorial Day, she could snuggle with him in the morning.
Her first trip to Caddo Lake! If you ever make it to East Texas, its a must see. Only natural lake in Texas, and SO much history. She basically slept the entire time we were there…but I know we’ll have many more outings in the future!
This week we’ve started seeing these beautiful little smiles!
Such a sweet baby. We are so incredibly blessed to have her in our lives. I know you will get to see much more of this amazing little girl! And yes, she has a cute little “angel kiss” on her right arm!
And believe it or not…I have a food post coming soon! I am going to try and be more active posting, but no promises with a newborn around !
