First off, thank you for visiting my page! My name is Amber and I live in deep NorthEast Texas…so far east, we typically go to Louisiana to get a good meal. (We being my husband Doug and I, who you will see referenced a lot in my blog.) I am not a native East Texan, I grew up in a small town in the Hill Country called Bandera (just a bit outside of San Antonio). Where I was involved in just about anything and everything from rodeo, tennis, student council…you name it (probably a whole other post).
After high school and a year at the cheap community college, I ventured onto Texas A&M University in College Station, TX (WHOOP). I graduated in 2005 with my BA in Anthropology…no its not the study of bugs, thats entomology. Anthropology is the study of people, culture (sorry I have to say that, because I get asked that shockingly often.) After college I moved to DFW where I met the love of my life, moved back to small town America, got married to my best friend, had a baby…and lived happily ever after!
I also am not a native baker, I never really did anything more than push a button on the microwave to make dinner. For some reason, once I got married, the domestic goddess in me decided to appear. Recently I realized my love for baking and cooking (baking more so than cooking, unfortunate for my waistline). I spend half my time in the kitchen, especially on the weekends we are home, and a lot of time searching food blogs and looking at wonderful ideas on tastespotting.com or foodgawker.com. Truth is since I got my beautiful red KitchenAid stand mixer for our wedding it has made spending time in the kitchen much more enjoyable and easy!
I decided to start this blog for one reason initially, to share my recipes. I was always baking and posting pictures of my creations on facebook. People were always asking me where I found the recipe. It was so much easier just to share them this way! It has slowly being to flourish and materialize into my passion!
I know you are also probably curious who the heck Caleigh is, since my name is Amber, right? Caleigh is my super energetic and lovable fur baby who is part Border Collie and part Australian Shepherd. She typically spends her days under my heels, ESPECIALLY when I am in the kitchen. It kind of became her kitchen over time, hence “Caleigh’s Kitchen”.
Thanks for stopping by!!
